A new decade is upon us, and with that comes new resolutions, new goals and new targets. At the beginning of each year, many of us have great intentions to become fitter, healthier, and stronger. However, quite often these dreams are shattered before February comes around. The main reason for this is because the targets we set are unrealistic, unhealthy and unattainable. So, to help you stay on track this new year, we’ve compiled this list of healthy habits that will help you reach your 2020 fitness goals.

  1. Start small

We’ve all been there, promising ourselves that once January arrives, we’ll cut out all sugar from our diet. In theory this is great, but in practice, it’s not realistic, and you’ll most likely quit two weeks in - which is why we suggest starting small! If you eat chocolate every day, limit yourself to eating it twice a week, perhaps on the weekends! But maybe you prefer crisps – apply the same logic, and soon you’ll find yourself losing those regular cravings!

Top tip – Make Slendertone a part of your daily routine. Try using the belt 3 times a week at first, then increase to 4 or 5. For best results we recommend using your belt 30 minutes a day, 5 days a week for 6 weeks.

  1. Set small goals

Setting big goals is a great way to get yourself motivated and excited, but big goals can be daunting, and it can be difficult to know where to start. Setting small goals as steps to reaching your bigger goals is a great way to keep yourself motivated and stay on track. Telling yourself you want to complete fifteen workouts a month is great, but it’s easy to fall off plan. Breaking this down to three workouts a week helps you focus and reminds you that if you miss a workout one week, you can make up for it the following week, keeping you motivated and on track!

Top tip: wear your ab toning belt to maximise your time and ensure you never miss a workout again!

  1. Find a workout buddy

Working out by yourself is great, but sometimes it’s more fun to exercise with a friend! Working out with a friend has many benefits, including competing against each other for a more intense workout, and being less likely to cancel exercise sessions because you don’t want to let the other person down. Working out with another person is a great way to build a friendship by catching up with this person during every workout, whether it’s a brisk walk, a toning session or a workout class!

Top tip – take the Slendertone 6 Week Challenge with a friend and compare results!

  1. Out of sight, out of mind

The biggest temptation to indulge when trying to eat well is being surrounded by unhealthy snacks, so help your future self out and don’t buy them! If the treats aren’t in your cupboards at home, you’re less likely to indulge as you’ll have to leave the house to purchase them! We always recommend incorporating your toning belt into a healthy diet and active lifestyle to help you see even better body toning and strengthening results!

Top tip - if you find yourself craving chocolate, etc., you may just be craving a sweet treat, so opt for fruit instead to get a natural sugar kick!

  1. Discover things you can do every day

They say it’s the little things that make the big differences when trying to live a healthier life. If you’re struggling to reach the recommended 10,000 steps a day, why not park your car further from work than usual or go for a walk during your lunch break? Even taking the stairs instead of the lift is a great place to start. You may be surprised how quickly these add up!

Top tip – find ways to fit your ab toning belt into your everyday life. Use it when making dinner, watching TV or doing housework to maximise your time and increase your toning efforts!
